The Government Procurement Policy Board – Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO) is conducting the second batch of the Empowering Local Procurement: Navigating Government Procurement at the Local Level for Municipalities. This training program is taking place from June 4-7, 2024, at the GPPB-TSO Building, UP Diliman Campus, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

The specialized training program for municipalities underscores the critical role of procurement in public service delivery. At the grassroots level, effective procurement is essential for providing the goods and services the community needs.

GPPB-TSO Executive Director Atty. Rowena Candice Ruiz welcomed the participants to the training, emphasized her appreciation for their attendance, and encouraged their active participation. She also provided a brief background on the new Government Procurement Act, highlighting its potential impact on improving procurement practices.

Ms. Maricris Jacinto, Administrative Officer IV from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, led a session on the roles and responsibilities of procurement officials and the importance of strategic procurement planning.

This comprehensive four-day training ensures that participants gain an in-depth understanding of RA 9184, the Government Procurement Reform Act, and are equipped to apply best practices in their municipalities. By emphasizing strategic planning in government procurement, the training aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement processes, ultimately improving public service delivery and ensuring responsible resource management.
